Palate for Style

I have been having a tough time with wordpress (blogging tool) these past few days.. This post was supposed to go out on Tuesday but well, it did not! Sometimes no matter how much you try or fight, things don’t go your way. Sometimes you just gotta let it be.. And when the time is right, things will come your way 🙂

As you all know, I have been blogging for a year. And you all also know that I haven’t collaborated with a single brand. Today is the dawn of a new era my friends.. Finally a brand approached to collaborate with me. *Drum rolls pleaseeeee. I am being so dramaticccc*. Let me backtrack to tell you a story.. I kept seeing and hearing about JORD watches almost every other day. Most of my blogger friends were collaborating with them and writing rave reviews. The watches looked amazing and I was 95% sure they would approach me anytime. I mean look at this pretty face.. with the power to launch a thousand ships.*move over Helen of Troy and enter Monika of Palate for Style*.

I waited and waited and waited and waited some more. Never heard from them.. Maybe instead of seeing the above picture, they had seen this one and ofcourse noone can be blamed then 🙈

Anywho, after not hearing from them or any other brand, my heart sank , even though I was fake laughing in my posts to make you guys think otherwise.. *again being super dramatic. I need to stop watching too many dramas.*

But sometimes things come your way only when the time is right no matter how hard you work. Sometimes you have to let go of the crazy picture you create in your mind to allow the universe to surprise you. And that’s exactly what I did. And you won’t believe what happened next! I have a hundred brands dying to work with me. *Ok monika can you please stop lying and exaggerating* .Okay fine remove the zeroes from the hundred! And now I can laugh for real. 🙈

My whole point of these lame jokes is to let you know that you’re not alone if things aren’t going your way. In moments of despair and hopelessness, always remember –

Give it time

I am a kind of person who has zero patience when it comes to seeing results.

Exhibit A –  I expect to get fit a day after I start exercising. How dare I huff and puff hiking when I went for zumba just a day before. * in 6 months!*

Exhibit B – I expect my skin to glow a day after I start proper skincare regime. How dare my skin act all dry and flaky when I exfoliated, applied a mask and moisturized just a day before. *in 3 months!*

You get my point. 😁 But please don’t be like me in this case. *but otherwise you all definitely can dream of being me. I am pretty awesome you see.*

 It’s very rare that your dreams come true in a  very short span of time. Everything in life takes time. You maybe more lucky than the person next to you in terms of things working out faster and more easily, but if you are anything like me, don’t fret. Your dreams may take longer, your goals even more but they will pan out eventually. Ofcourse give your best and work hard, but don’t beat yourself or get upset if it takes longer than expected.

Shhh secret time.. Well almost 98 out of 100 of my dreams/goals are still underway.. I can’t even afford to beat myself up. It will cause serious injuries in my case. *lame joke 10001*.

Be Present – Enjoy the journey

It’s so easy to focus only on the end result. I do it all the time. You are talking to a girl who thinks she can run a marathon after a day of zumba! But seriously, we all tend to ignore the journey and get obsessed with the final destination. Oh darling but the journey is so much more enjoyable! You fall, you get up, you learn, you cry, you laugh.. So many emotions and so many lessons to learn. We really need to be more “present”. Present in our moments of despair, failure, struggles, happiness. All these moments are what make the end spectacular. 🙂

Trust the Universe 

It may sound all hippie but the universe always knows what’s right for you. Surrender and let it work it’s magic. Especially when you have come to the end of your wits. Everything, absolutely everything in this universe has a way of working out exactly the way it is supposed to for you.

Mr. M calls me panda. I am sure his reasons are very different from what I want to believe. *cough cough*. But in my imaginary world, the reason he calls me a panda is because I am a nature baby *and ofcourse super cute*. Each time I am near mountains or water, my heart beats with joy and is still calm.. I wanted the outfit to reflect that; my love for nature with a touch of simplicity and sophistication.. Exactly how JORD watches make me feel. 🍂

As we march into the new year, I hope we spend our time being more present in every moment. I hope we can let go of the disappointments of the past year. I hope we open our hearts to new experiences. I hope we are not afraid to live.. And I hope each one of you knows how important your presence is in this universe. Never for a moment doubt how amazingly unique and important you are.
