It’s raining cats and dogs in California and I absolutely LOVE LOVE this weather, mainly because it rarely rains here.. So my heart is very content and I am back with another post highlighting winter layering. Why? Because it’s winter and you can’t really go out with no clothes right. Duh. <insert a teenager’s face with expressions that say ‘seriously! Is that even a real question?’>.
I won’t lie but my go-to winter outfit is usually jeans, sweatshirt with thermal inners and boots. I feel it’s my laziness that gets the best of me and the reason I don’t dress up when it is cold and gloomy. But this year, I want to actually put in more effort and explore my inner style a bit more.. Why? Because it’s a new year and that’s what you do right? Newer you, better you bla bla bla. Duh. <insert a very bored teenager’s face with expressions that say ‘Seriously!!!’>.
I used to think that winter layering is a complicated art. Something that requires you to spend hours to figure out the right clothes to get the right look. But you know whaaaat? Winter layering is just another name for putting on every piece of clothing you own. Seriously, not kidding one bit. There are literally no rules. You like something, wear it.. That color looks good, wear it.. That is warm, wear it. Ok maybe, maaaybbee I am tad bit wrong but then style is such an individual thing that noone can ever be completely wrong. #Wise-words-as-always. #I-missed-talking-in-hashtags.
Winter Layering Essentials
I am listing out 2 basic pieces <often neglected> that are helpful in getting the winter layering game started –
Thermal Inner Tee –
Always a good idea to have a warm tee as the innermost piece. You can get them from anywhere or click here to get a list from Amazon.
Warm Tights –
Best investment ever for winters. You can wear them with skirts, dresses, shorts.. There are so many pretty colorful one’s available that completely transform the outfit. Click here to get a list from Amazon.
Now time for some artwork by yours truly. #Monika-has-so-many-talents 😎
About the Outfit
I have always wanted to get my hands on a cape. They were so in fashion last year but usual Monika style, here I am flaunting one after a year. Well better late than never! #More-Wise-Words-Spoken-By-Yours-Truly
Capes are so versatile. I mean they can easily double up as a scarf, a shawl and according to Mr. M, a blanket! My reply to him – Let’s talk when we are in a always-so-freaking cold movie theatre.. Huh huh now who wishes they had my cape. 😎
Also, it’s a freaking cape for godsake.. Giving me superwoman powers and wings. 🌟 Something each and every woman in this world deserves and needs right now. <#womensmarch #Iwillgoout>
Random fact – I have so many earrings that are dying a slow death. So keeping up with the new year, new you, better you stuff, I am going to make sure their death does not go in vain.! I told you it was random..
Have you had a chance to check out my previous post on winter layering. If not, click here pretty please.
Have fun with clothes. Have fun with colors. Have fun with patterns. Some people may like it, some may not. But the most important thing is that you love it. Whether it is wearing clashing colors (being honest, I don’t really know which colors clash 🙈) or not playing with colors at all.. Whether it is trying new trends or sticking with basics.. Whether it is spending hours getting dressed up or getting out in 5 minutes.. Whatever it is, own it with all the confidence in the world! Now go explore your style..
Hope all of you are having a magical week. Thank you so much for stopping by.. You are the best! Ciao – Love, M ❤️
