Like any self-respecting blogger, my dreams are very original..

Pictures with spring flowers all around and Monika prancing like a damsel being one of them. 

Oh Filoli you made my spring dreams come to life and for that I’ll be eternally, forever, beyond grateful to you! Dramatic and I.. Oh shut up.. (lol)

Before I begin my diary of flower-monika-flower-monika-flower-monika on repeat, let’s talk about this magical place called Filoli. Btw doesn’t the name make you feel all flowery? (flowery!??) 

So Filoli is a country estate built in early 20th century set against the backdrop of the northern Santa Cruz Mountains in Woodside, California. This place makes you feel like you are in Europe. Reason 23908 why California is incredible and why I want to explore more of it! 

There are 2 major parts to it  – a) please-take-a-million-pics-please gorgeous gardens b) lets-move-in-like-right-now house. Bonus) There is a also a nursery in the property and a very special guest.. Check out the pics to know who.

The general admission ticket gives you access to all. There are special tours but we didn’t take one. You can buy the tickets online or on spot. Oh even if you buy tickets in advance, you gotta stand in the same line as the folks buying tickets there bcoz technology/actually making the effort to buy in advance doesn’t mean a thing! kidding but not really.. Ticket prices and other details here.

We went to Filoli a few weeks back when it was blooming with the prettiest of prettiest spring flowers and wisterias.. Oh and it smelled incredible.. Like jasmine all around.

I’d suggest keeping aside atleast 3 hours to tour the house and gardens especially if you plan to take pics. Lots and lots of pics. And if not, why not? Oh maybe bcoz you are among the few mysterious and quickly fading species of humans who actually can enjoy a place without clickity-clackity. Hmmm interesting.. 🤔

Enough of my ramblings, let me present to you the gorgeousness of Filoli and the happiness of Monika. Gorgeousness and happiness are interchangeable here.. I don’t mind at all.. 🤷‍♀️
