Sunshine and happiness. Yes, that’s exactly how all the summer light is making me feel. Happier and content.
Recently I read this quote – ” There is so much life to be lived in the ‘in-between’ ” – this resonated deeply with what I have been thinking and trying to practise.
I have spent a huge chunk of my not so long life (18 forever😎) waiting for the next holiday, weekend or monumental moment. Everyday life was something that you just gotta deal with in-between. But I forgot that majority of our life is made up of these in-between moments!
Just take a minute and think..
We are going to spend more time at work than on holiday. We are going to spend more time cooking/cleaning than exploring a new place. We are going to spend more time witnessing the sunrise/sunset from where we live than the exotic vacation. We are going to spend more time eating at home than going to a fancy restaurant. We are going to spend more time doing the mundane than something extraordinary. And if you aren’t a math genius (unlike me 🕺🏻), remember there are more days in the week than the weekend! *Well this holds true for the majority of us, if not all..*
So why do we put our life on pause during the week? Why do we wait for the next vacation/weekend/something big to happen before we give ourselves permission to celebrate? Why do we wait for the right moment to truly breath and be happy?
Ok I don’t have all the answers, I ain’t no Google! 🤷♀️ But what I do know is that life is happening right here right now. This moment is all we have.. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. And yes, now I am definitely quoting quotes and lyrics of various songs. lol.
Anywho, I have been making a conscious choice to not put my life on hold during the in-between moments. And no I ain’t talking about living life like there’s no tomorrow! but more on the lines of including small changes that are sustainable and make each day a bit more sweeter.. So how exactly do I plan to become a #yolo babe during these in-between moments? Listing down some ideas/things I plan to do..
Squeeze in movie or date night during the week
Explore more of this stunning state during the weekends.. Not wait for the next big holiday to become a #travelblogger.. 🙈
Take out time to read everyday
Celebrate important life events even when life is crazy busy and stressful.
Wear fancy clothes, put on makeup whenever my heart desires aka not wait for that elusice “special” occasion!
Focus on my physical health by doing atleast something small every single day.. Yoga, Zumba, more water, fruits, nuts, homemade food.. you know the drill.
Gratitude journaling / reflecting on the day
Face mask nights during the week
Try out a brand new place to eat once in a while
Have candlelight dinners at home more often.. I mean all you need is a candle so how hard can it be?!🤔
Pause, breathe and watch the sunset whenever possible!
Always always make time for family
And most importantly, start and finish the day with the biggest smile and a grateful heart bcoz it ain’t coming back..
Clearly I love making lists and more lists.. But I hope this gives you some inspiration to own and celebrate life as is than waiting for something extraordinary to happen..
